METHODS OF PAYMENT

HEALTH INSURANCE:

I am on the panels of, and accept payments from, most insurance carriers.  Clients who use insurance for my services need to be aware that some information respecting their treatment is forwarded to their insurance carrier.  At present, the insurance companies demand minimum information, however this information does include ytour diagnosis.  I have no way of knowing what your insurance company does with this information, nor with whom they share it.

Many clients are concerned about the limits on sessions they may have with me.  In most instances there will be more than enough sessions available.  As a client you should inquire about co-pays and deductibles associated with your policy.  Co-pays are due at the time of your sessions, and collection of co-pays is part of the requirement your insurance company makes of me in order to accept insurance.  If you have a deductible I will let you know within one or two weeks of starting therapy with me.  Insurance companies will not pay me until you have fulfilled your deductible requirement.  You are responsible for paying for sessions out of pocket until your deductible is met.

I often see clients who have two different insurances at the same time.  Typically, these people have commercial insurance, such as Blue Cross/Blue Shield, plus Mass Health.  These clients wish to have their commercial insurance pay the main session cost, and Mass Health pay their co-pays.  There is, unfortunately, no way for me to bill Mass Health for tyour co-pays.  Clients have to pay their co-pays out of pocket.  Further, if a client has commercial insurance and Mass Health, there is no way to simply bill both the session cost and co-pay to Mass Health.  The commercial insurance is primary and must be billed.

On occasion, a client will present with an insurance plan with which I am unfamiliar.  In most cases, it turns out that I can accept their insurance because the company with which they are insured is a spin off or somehow associated with one of the insurances I accept.  If you have questions as to whether you can see me and have me bill your insurance company, please call your insurance company and ask if I am on their panel.

OTHER FORMS OF PAYMENT:

In addition to accepting insurance, I am pleased to accept fee-for-service payments, that is cash payments, for my services.  The costs for fee-for-service is $100 for an intake appointment and $100 for regular therapy sessions.  Such payments may be made by cash, cheques or credit cards.  In instances of clients with severe economic hardship – long term unemployment, terminal illness, or other severe life circumstances – I am willing to negotiate sliding scale payments in keeping with their income.
